Grid Services & Markets Conference (GSM 2026)
Last week, Matthias Strobbe presented BlueBird at the GSM 2026 Conference.
The session brought together three European research projects working on energy flexibility: BlueBird, ENFLATE, and GLOCALFLEX, which allowed to exchange insights and showcase complementary approaches.

During his presentation, Matthias gave an overview of the different perspectives on flexibility that are being explored within BlueBird:
- Technical – showcasing the modular system architecture and illustrating the flexibility control algorithms
- Techno-economic – assessing the value and business case of flexibility
- Social – understanding user engagement and acceptance
- Regulatory – analysing the implementation of the relevant EU directives for flexibility in the different member states
These perspectives were illustrated through analyses from several of BlueBird’s seven pilot sites, demonstrating how the project is advancing flexibility solutions in diverse real-world settings.
