Making EV charging smarter, more flexible and aligned with renewable energy

As part of the pilot in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, we are moving forward with the implementation of a SmartBoard for an EV charging installation, designed to create a more interactive experience between the charging infrastructure and its users.

The SmartBoard allows us to communicate with EV drivers and encourage them to adapt the timing of their charging sessions to periods when renewable energy is available, helping to better align electricity consumption with renewable generation.

This is an important step towards making electric vehicle charging an active element of energy flexibility, rather than simply a fixed electricity demand:

• More renewable energy
• More flexible consumption
• A more engaged EV user
• A smarter and more sustainable charging system

This pilot is another step forward in BlueBird, exploring how digitalisation, flexibility and user interaction can contribute to a more efficient and renewable energy system.
