HV/MV Power Station Kuczyna
The pilot at the HV/MV substation in Kuczyna focuses on the improvement of the energy efficiency of grid-connected buildings.

Main innovations include:
- Monitoring & prediction: developing a framework to predict electricity consumption for heating and cooling, resulting in a day-ahead load curve as the basis for optimisation.
- Smart control: using the model to optimise HVAC operations, dynamically generating target setpoints for thermostats and on/off patterns for air conditioners.
- Flexibility & market integration: analysing the building’s flexibility potential and exploring opportunities to aggregate it with other buildings for participation in the Polish capacity market and other regulated and unregulated flexibility markets, including the implementation and testing of the necessary interfaces towards these markets.
This pilot is operated by Enea Operator, one of the largest electricity distribution system operators in Poland, and the Poznań Science and Networks Center (PSNC), a research and development center. It combines cost reductions via energy efficiency improvements with economic opportunities from flexibility trading, representing an important step towards smarter energy management.
